West Nile Virus Found in Northbrook
Residents should check around their homes and eliminate any sources of standing water, according to a Village memo.
A pool of mosquitoes collected by the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District in Northbrook on July 6, has tested positive for West Nile virus, according to a Village of Northbrook staff briefing.
The NSMAD reminds residents to protect themselves by avoiding outdoor activity during the hours around dawn and dusk, covering exposed skin with loose fitting, light colored clothing and wearing repellent.
Residents should also check around the homes and eliminate any sources of standing water as this provides the mosquitoes with potential breeding sites.
