Cook County Sheriff Recognizes Northbrook Teens

Students honored for community service.

Four Northbrook teens received the Cook County Sheriff's Youth Service Medal of Honor Monday night for volunteering more than 100 hours to their community.

Varsha John, Jenna Mendelson, Laura Strickland and Stella Tu were recognized along with other students from around Cook County at a ceremony at the UIC Forum in Chicago.

The program was established to recognize Cook County students who have
volunteered 100 or more hours in a year, and the students at Monday's ceremony totaled more than 36,000 hours of community service to a variety of agencies and organizations throughout Cook County.
