The following article is based on a release from CVS Caremark.
CVS Caremark colleagues delivered 1,000 bags stuffed with school supplies to patients of La Rabida Children’s Hospital and their siblings to help students prepare for the new school year.
”We used last year’s school supplies for most of the year,’’ said Tyese Chatman, a mom whose children were at La Rabida Children’s Hospital, located at 6501 South Promontory Dr. in Chicago. Chatman’s children are among 9,000 patients served at the hospital each year, most of whom are dependent on Medicaid to pay for medical care.
This year marks the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Drive, which brings together thousands of CVS Caremark volunteers, including staff from the Northbrook facility, to raise money, purchase supplies and assemble school bags for La Rabida patients and their siblings.
CVS Caremark has contributed $130,000 to La Rabida Children’s Hospital since 2008, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to increasing access to health care and helping children reach their highest potential.
Chicago Alderman Leslie Hairston, 5th Ward, was also at the drive.
