GBN Baseball Players Hike 80 Flights For Sick Kids

Glenbrook North's baseball team participated in a fundraiser for Children's Memorial Hospital.

's baseball team got an early start on spring training with an unusual exercise: hiking up 80 flights of stairs.

On Sunday, 23 players and four coaches climbed the Aon Tower as part of "Step Up For Kids," an event that raises funds for the family services department of Children's Memorial Hospital.

In their first year of participation, the Spartans contributed $2,300 to the more than $500,000 raised in total.

"Since it supports such a great cause, we will make this an annual event for the GBN Baseball Program," said head coach Dominic Savino.
