The 85,000-square-foot Northbrook Public Library, opened at its current location in 1969, is known not only for the beauty of its structure but for its extensive multimedia collection and program offerings. Designed by the firm of Hammond & Roche, the three-flour building features walls of windows on the second and third floors, several study rooms available for patrons to reserve, and a cafe and Friends gift shop on the lower level. Residents of incorporated Northbrook are entitled to a free library card with proof of identity.
