Stuart Weitzman, whose father owned a shoe factory, began designing shoes in his twenties. His shop is known for its high-end shoes made of unconventional materials such as cork, vinyl, stainless steel, wallpaper and gold. Aiming to create shoes that are part spectacle and part sculpture, each year Stuart Weitzman designs a special pair of heels often made of diamonds and precious stones for an Oscar nominee's red-carpet walk.
