Update: Callaghan Indicted for Theft, Fraud

Former Wilmette Park District employee could face a long prison sentence if convicted.

A six-count indictment for theft and computer fraud was handed up Friday against former Wilmette Park District employee Dennis R. Callaghan in the Skokie branch of the county criminal court.  Callaghan was arrested June 2 for allegedly embezzling more than $10,000 over a year’s span while working at the Wilmette Golf Course. He is accused of undercharging individuals and pocketing the difference, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin. Callaghan, 49, resigned in the wake of the allegations after he had worked at the golf course nearly 23 years.  He was formally charged with four counts of theft as a Class 2 felony. Court Update: Bomb Threat Case Nears Resolution

Former student accused of making bomb threats against GBS and GBN High Schools may seek judicial intervention.

Resolution in the case of Ryan Ricco, the former District 225 student accused of making bomb threats against Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools, is getting closer, according to statements made Monday in the Skokie branch of Cook County Criminal Court. The 18-year-old Northbrook resident is charged with two separate felony counts of making false terrorist threats, carrying a possible prison term of four to 15 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Andy Conklin. UPDATE: Former SWANCC Exec Accused of Stealing $900K Awaits Trial, Allowed to Leave State

Christopher Brook Beal may leave Iliinois to tend to business in Michigan, Judge Timothy Chambers said May 17.

Bond was modified May 17 in Cook County Circuit Court to allow Christopher Brooke Beal-- the former executive director of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC)--to leave the state as he awaits trial on charges of embezzling more than $900,000.  The Cook County Grand Jury recently indicted Beal on two charges each of theft of government property, official misconduct and forgery. These Class X felonies carry a prison sentence of six to 30 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesperson Andy Conklin.  Beal was charged March 10 with stealing more than $900,000 in funds from SWANCC after a five month joint investigation involving the Glenview Police Department and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Public …

I think it is a waste of tax payer money to lock up white collar criminals. An alternative idea of house arrest, day to day employment scrubbing state hospital toilets and doing other over paid union state jobs would save the tax payers millions!!   more ›

A trial date may be on the horizon for Ryan Ricco, the former District 225 student accused of making bomb threats to Glenbrook North and South High Schools, according to statements made by attorneys today in the Skokie Branch of Cook County Criminal Court.  The 18-year-old Northbrook resident is charged with two separate felony counts of false terrorist threats, carrying a possible prison term of four to 15 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Andy Conklin. Ricco Indicted for Bomb Threat to Glenbrook High Schools

Facebook threats result in three felony counts; arraignment scheduled for Feb. 3.

Ryan Ricco, an 18-year-old former District 225 student, was indicted Jan. 4 by a Cook County grand jury on three felony counts stemming from a Dec. 8 threat on Facebook to bomb Glenbrook North and South High Schools. The charges were announced Tuesday at a status hearing in Cook County Criminal Court in Skokie by Deputy Cook County State's Attorney Glen Runk. The Northbrook resident will be arraigned on the charges at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 3, where it is likely he will enter a plea. Ricco is accused of threatening to bomb Glenbrook North High School and walk into Glenbrook South High School with a bomb strapped to him, according to court records.
