Update: Deerfields Bakery Issues Recount in Obama-Romney Race

After accurately predicting 2004 and 2008 Presidential races, the cookie count is too close to call.

(Update at 6:40 p.m.) When Deerfields Bakery closed for the day at 5 p.m. today the number of cookies sold with the likenesses of President Barack Obama and Republican Challenger Mitt Romney was so close the Deerfield institution has issued a recount. “It was so close we’ve issued a recount,” Jacki Schmitt, one of the company’s owners, said. “You’ll have to check our website tomorrow.” One difference between the cookie election and the actual contest is voting more than once is allowed. “We encourage it,” Schmitt said. When Will Presidential Election 2012 Results Be Announced?

Illinois voting ends at 7 p.m. But other states, including swing states, have different hours.

Illinois voters have until 7 p.m. to cast their 2012 presidential ballots, but no one is waiting very anxiously to see if our state swings Red or Blue. However, for key swing states, the picture is much different. The earliest key state to watch for is Virginia, where polls close at 6 p.m. central time.  Voting ends 30 minutes later in swing states Ohio and North Carolina. At 7 p.m. swing states Florida, Pennslvania and New Hampshire close their polls. Wisconsin polls close at 8 p.m. Nevada and Iowa close their voting at 9 p.m.  Check here as Patch updates Election 2012 results as they come in.

LIVEBLOG: Follow Along with Local Readers for the Presidential Debate Town Hall

Tuesday's round two between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney is Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. Central Time. The town-hall style debate will be moderated by CNN’s Candy Crowley. Patch will liveblog the event for local readers.

The second presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney is set for 8 p.m. Oct. 16. The debate is at Hofstra University in New York and will be moderated by CNN's Candy Crowley. In the first debate, the candidates focused on domestic issues, including the economy and taxes, health care reform and the role of government.  This second debate between the candidates is a town hall-style debate, including questions from the audience. Election 2012: Follow the Money Given to Obama and Romney in Northbrook

Patch has a new interactive campaign contribution database that lets you see who's donating each candidate and how much.

Patch has created an interactive database so you can see how much your neighbors are donating to the presidential campaign — and to which candidate they’re writing their checks. We have included communities across Illinois, so if you want to see what the campaign contributions in nearby towns are like, go right ahead. The information in the database was downloaded from the Federal Election Commission’s website. The data is based on quarterly reports and is current through July. The data will be updated in mid-October.

Who Won the Presidential Debate? Patch Survey Takers Say Romney

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney met for their first debate. We surveyed influential Illinois politicians and guests at Patch watch parties, who say the president whiffed.

Illinois Republicans said Mitt Romney "hit a home run" in the Oct. 3 presidential debate and some Democrats said President Barack Obama "looked unprepared," even if they still agree with what he said.  Patch conducted a quick, unscientific poll among politically involved citizens following the debate and also surveyed residents at watch parties throughout the suburbs.  Of the 19 Republicans who responded to the online survey, 16 said Romney won by a wide margin and one said he defeated Obama by a slim margin. Two Republican respondents said Obama won the debate.  "I expected Obama to lecture Romney. I never expected Romney to lecture Obama," one Republican said. "Obama spent more time looking at his belly button like a little kid being …
