Deputy Fire Chief Retires, 'It Is What It Is'

Friday, Aug. 3 is Bob Brogan's last day as Deputy Chief of Operations at the Northbrook Fire Department. Friends and colleagues send him off with praise.

On June 11, Bob Brogan, 55, announced to the Village of Northbrook that he will be retiring from his position as Deputy Chief of Operations at the Northbrook Fire Department.  But the town won't let go of Brogan quietly. Friends and colleagues have shared their memories of a man who served Northbrook for 30 years.  Lt. Dennis Ortlund, Northbrook Fire Department Bob Brogan was one of my first company officers when I got on in 1997. What I always loved about Bob was that there is no deceit in the man, you always know exactly where he’s coming from. He is passionate about customer service. Northbrook Fire Department Deputy Chief Stepping Down

Deputy Chief of Operations, Bob Brogan, is resigning from his post at the Northbrook Fire Department for a similar position closer to home.

On June 11, Bob Brogan, 55, announced to the Village of Northbrook that he will be stepping down from his position as Deputy Chief of Operations at the Northbrook Fire Department. Brogan joined the department as a firefighter/paramedic 30 years ago, he was 25. His golden badge, pinned above his heart, displays four bugles — a symbol of his rank. The Fire Chief is the only person in the department whose badge has five.  Brogan will leave the department on Friday, Aug. 3. Afterwards, he will serve as the Deputy Chief of Operations at the Rutland-Dundee Township Fire Protection District, protecting his home town of Sleepy Hollow and neighboring Gilberts.  Brogan sat down with Patch to discuss his experiences on the job and his fondness for …

29-Year Fire Department Veteran Promoted To Deputy Chief

Bob Brogan, former district chief, takes over as deputy chief in place of Jim Richards.

Northbrook Fire Department District Chief Bob Brogan was promoted to deputy chief Wednesday, taking the place of former Deputy Chief Jim Richards. Brogan, who has served with the fire department for 29 years and started as a firefighter, was honored in a ceremony Wednesday at Fire Station 11, 740 Dundee Road. Several members of his family and village staff were present.  Brogan joins fellow Deputy Chief Ron Schinleber, who is in charge of the fire department’s operations division. Brogan will oversee the department’s administrative division, including human resources and facilities. “Bob’s had a very good career with us,” said Schinleber. “We’re really happy that he’s had this opportunity to step up and we expect great things from him.” …
