PHOTOS: Greenbriar Students Get A Taste of China and Alaska
School celebrates Chinese New Year and hosts Alaskan children's author Debbie S. Miller.
Friday was a day of special events at Greenbriar Elementary School. Second graders celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year with crafts, food, and a dancing dragon, while fourth graders were visited by Alaskan children's author Debbie S. Miller. Vicki Kastory, art adventure coordinator for the second grade, planned the Lunar New Year celebrations with input from the families of several Chinese students. Girls decorated fans and adorned their hair with chop sticks, while boys created Kung Fu headbands. Kids also enjoyed a meal of rice, egg roll and oranges along with a small glass of tea.
