Organizers Say Autumnfest Sequel Tops Last Year’s

The park district's second annual fall festival adds more events and draws a bigger crowd as residents of all ages come out to enjoy the season.

Despite a chance of rain, the lure of local bands, a bonfire and carnival games brought many families out Saturday for Autumnfest at Meadowhill Park. Last year about 750 people attended the free festival hosted by the Northbrook Park District and this year the park district reported a turnout of about 1,000.  "It's a great time to celebrate fall," said Autumnfest chairwoman Cathi Klaver. The park district tries to hold an event to celebrate every season, according to director of marketing and communications Ann Ziolkowski, and a random survey conducted in 2009 showed strong interest in more free events among residents.
