More than 400 family, friends, current and former colleagues mourn popular special education teacher Jodi Polikov, 41, who died last week.
Jodi Polikov connected with a huge network of people throughout her 41 years of life. About 400 of them gathered at Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights Monday morning to remember the life and mourn the loss of the popular Glenbrook North special education teacher. Family and friends greeted and hugged each other; tears flowed before and during the service. Several youngsters huddled under blankets to keep warm. Glenbrook North special education teacher Jodi Polikov will be remembered this morning at a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights. Polikov, 41, died Thursday after contracting meningococcal disease. The mother of two was a 1989 graduate of GBN and returned in 1997 to start teaching special education. Public health, school officials note there is no reason for concern.
Glenbrook North High School is mourning Thursday's death of a 41-year-old special education teacher. A notice posted Thursday on the GBN website said a teacher had recently been diagnosed with Neisseria meningitidis, also known as meningococcal disease, and was receiving the appropriate treatment at a local hospital.
