A New Year’s Day baby boy - Samson Chambers was born to Chicago residents Donald and Sheryl Chambers at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, 2650 Ridge Ave., on Jan. 1, 2013, at 12:41 a.m. The boy came in at 8-pounds, 3-ounces and 20-inches. “I wanted [Samson] to be born on Christmas day and my husband wanted him to be born on New Year’s Day,” Sheryl Chambers said. “My husband got his wish.” This is the fifth child for the Chambers family. The mother said she now has three girls and two boys. “Honestly, for me, I think it’s a normal thing. It was a regular day for me,” Chambers said. “We gave him the name Samson [which is] from the bible. The name means ‘being strong.’” Chambers added that she had family at the hospital …

Steven Page, the former lead singer of the Bare Naked Ladies (BNL), is used to performing in front of thousands of fans at huge arenas. But this weekend he will be up close and personal to his fan base and that is very enticing to him. “The nice thing about a festival during the day is you can see the audience’s faces and that makes a big difference from sitting in a dark theatre,” Page said. “You can connect with people and you can make the whole thing quite intimate.” Page is the headline act of this weekend’s Chicago Jewish Festival, a biannual gathering of Jewish artists dating back to 1980. Glenview, Morton Grove, Northbrook and Prospect Heights authorities worked together to quell the incident.
A garage fire in the 1700 block of Monterey Drive Thursday resulted in $250,000 worth of damages, according to the Glenview Fire Department. Fire crews from Glenview, Morton Grove, Northbrook and Prospect Heights worked to put out the structure fire. This is the third fire in seven days the Glenview Fire Department has worked to put out. Earlier: Big Condo Fire Draws Many Fire Departments "The home was found unoccpued with little extension fo the fire into the living areas," according to a press release from Glenview authorities. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
