Korean Northbrook Rotary Helps Fund Learning Center in Mexico

The Rotary Club of Skokie Valley wants to thank the Chicagoland Korean Northbrook, their members and President, HyunJoo Park for supporting the Skokie Valley Rotary Presidents’ Project to build a learning center in Monterrey, Mexico.

Blood Drive in Northbrook This Weekend

Community service event to be sponsored by The Rotary Club of Northbrook, the Northbrook Women’s Club and Sunset Foods .

Hoping to increase the local blood supply, residents are organizing a blood drive in Northbrook this weekend. The Rotary Club of Northbrook, the Northbrook Women’s Club and Sunset Foods are sponsoring the drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27. It will be held at Sunset Foods, 1127 Church Street, Northbrook. “It’s an annual event that we’ve done,” said Jay Glaubinger, chairman of community services for the Rotary. “We feel it’s a valuable service for the community.” LifeSource, Chicagoland’s blood center, will conduct the blood drive. Each year LifeSource relies on the generosity of more than 500,000 life-saving donors to treat and save lives of local area patients. Ronald Christensen Memorial on Saturday

Ron Christensen, an active member of the Northbrook community, died Saturday night of natural causes, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A memorial service for Ronald Christensen, 77, who passed away last Saturday, will be held at The Village Presbyterian Church at 11:30 a.m., according to Northbrook Rotary.  Christensen died of natural, heart-related causes, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He was in the hospital for injuries incurred during a fight last Thursday.  A member of Northbrook Rotary and The Northbrook Civic Foundation, Christensen dedicated himself to serving others in the community.  “He never asked for anything in return, just quietly made donations every year and did it with a smile,” said Patrick Crown, President of the Northbrook Civic Foundation. “He’s just a person who has always been around the community, and always helped and did…
