On Dec. 30, firefighters found smoke coming from the electrical panel of a home on the 1200 block of Rudolph Drive.

Electrical Fire On Rudolph Drive At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, fire crews responded to the 1200 block of Rudolph Drive for a reported electrical fire. Upon arrival, companies found smoke coming from the electrical panel and quickly isolated power to the specific apartment unit. The homeowner said they had a technician at their residence previously looking at the furnace. The resident was advised to call a qualified electrical contractor for repairs. Damage was estimated at approximately $5,000. On Wednesday morning, a car crash on Waukegan Road sent three people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a Northbrook village memo.
The following items were part of a weekly Village of Northbrook memo. On Wednesday morning, just before 8:00 a.m., two vehicles collided at Waukegan Rd. and the exit ramp of the Tri-State Tollway, causing three persons to be transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. According to witnesses, one car was traveling south on Waukegan Rd. as another was attempting to turn north on Waukegan from the exit ramp when the collision occurred. Two Northbrook ambulances and one ambulance from Deerfield transported the three patients to Highland Park Hospital. Bonnie Spangler raised concerns to village trustees about 'contractors treating people like they don't count,' at Tuesday's board meeting.
Bonnie Spangler, from the 3400 block of Prestwick Ln., addressed the Northbrook Board of Trustees at Village Hall during their regular meeting Tuesday night, raising questions about the village's policy toward home contractors. "I'm here to help my friends and neighbors in Northbrook from suffering through what I have endured over the past several years by having the misfortune of living between construction on both sides of my house," Spangler said. Northbrook's current Village President will pursue a second term in the upcoming municipal elections.
With five Village Board terms expiring in April, at least four incumbents plan to seek re-election if slated by the Northbrook Caucus. Village President Sandy Frum, Village Clerk Deborah Ford, along with Board Trustees Todd Heller and Kathryn Ciesla have confirmed plans to seek another term at Village Hall. “I plan to see reelection so that I am able to continue my service to the residents and businesses of Northbrook,” Frum wrote in an email. Trustee Michael Scolaro, whose term is also expiring, is still on the fence about the April election. Community members pressure village to reconsider its chicken ordinance; opponents worry about property values.
If chickens cross the road into Northbrook, so to speak, it won’t be without opposition. At a meeting held Tuesday night to discuss village regulations on keeping chickens, residents clashed over whether the animals belonged in barnyards or backyards.
