Post Office Prices Increase

The cost to mail one ounce letter and postcards has increased starting today.

Prices at the post office are higher than ever.  Beginning today, the cost to mail a one ounce letter has increased to 46 cents a stamp. That’s up from 45 cents in 2012. Mailing a postcard also costs one penny more at 33 cents. The same increase was imposed in 2012. Post Office Prices to Increase in 2013

It will cost more to mail postcards and one ounce letters come Jan. 27, 2013.

Get ready to pay more at the post office next year. The cost to mail a one ounce letter will increase to 46 cents a stamp on Jan. 27. That’s up from 45 cents in 2012. Mailing a postcard will also cost one penny more at 33 cents. The same increase was imposed in 2012. New Domestic pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate products are as follows: If you want to save a few bucks mailing one ounce letters, stock up on Forever stamps now. They can be used anytime in the future regardless of price increases at the post office.

Meadow Plaza Mailbox Is a Victim of Post Office’s Economic Woes

Property owner Jay Heitman asked the post office to maintain the asphalt around the collection box in Meadow Plaza—or if not, to remove the box entirely.

When the U.S. Postal Service took out the mail collection box in the Meadow Plaza shopping center this summer, it was just one casualty of the agency’s billions of dollars in losses.  But for Northbrook’s downtown residents and regular Meadow Plaza shoppers, the loss of the collection box—located in the parking lot for easy drive-up access—had much larger reverberations.  In a column published Tuesday, Northbrook Star writer Karie Angell Luc reported that she’d heard from several readers who lamented the disappearance of the box, which the postal service removed in August. There is a paucity of mailboxes in Northbrook. There is one by Dominick's and across Sanders at the small strip mall. However, there isn't one single box unti you get to Pheasant Creek. There is nothing south of that, at least until Willow until you get to Shermer. There is a post office/box at the Sunset Mall and one in front of Village Hall.
