Final Court Update: No Jail Time in Bomb Threat Case

After psychiatric assessment found Ricco 'no threat', the former District 225 student was sentenced to two years supervision.

Once Ryan Ricco's attorney Steven Weinberg demonstrated his client never posed a threat to local students, Ricco was given supervision with no jail time in exchange for a guilty plea to misdemeanor disorderly conduct Thursday in the Skokie branch of Cook County Criminal Court.  The former District 225 student was originally arrested Dec. 8 for making bomb threats against Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools. The 18-year-old Northbrook resident was charged with two separate felony counts of making false terrorist threats, felony disorderly conduct and illegal possession of fireworks. A final status hearing date of Aug. 4 was set Monday in the case of Ryan Ricco, the former District 225 student accused of making bomb threats against Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools Wednesday in the Skokie branch of Cook County Criminal Court. The 18-year-old Northbrook resident is charged with two separate felony counts of making false terrorist threats carrying a possible prison term of four to 15 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Andy Conklin. Bond was modified for Ryan Ricco March 17 to allow the former District 225 student accused of making bomb threats to Glenbrook North and South High Schools to play in a basketball tournament this weekend at Forest View High School in Arlington Heights. Ricco is charged with two separate felony counts of false terrorist threats, carrying a possible prison term of four to 15 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Andy Conklin. Ryan Ricco, a District 225 student accused of making bomb threats to Glenbrook North and South High Schools, left the Skokie branch of Cook County Criminal Court today with a reinstated no-stalking order for the next three months. Ricco is charged with two separate felony counts of false terrorist threats, carrying a possible prison term of four to 15 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesperson Andy Conklin. Ricco did not enter a plea. Ricco Indicted for Bomb Threat to Glenbrook High Schools

Facebook threats result in three felony counts; arraignment scheduled for Feb. 3.

Ryan Ricco, an 18-year-old former District 225 student, was indicted Jan. 4 by a Cook County grand jury on three felony counts stemming from a Dec. 8 threat on Facebook to bomb Glenbrook North and South High Schools. The charges were announced Tuesday at a status hearing in Cook County Criminal Court in Skokie by Deputy Cook County State's Attorney Glen Runk. The Northbrook resident will be arraigned on the charges at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 3, where it is likely he will enter a plea. Ricco is accused of threatening to bomb Glenbrook North High School and walk into Glenbrook South High School with a bomb strapped to him, according to court records. No formal charges were made at a Dec. 27 hearing for Ryan Ricco, an 18-year-old District 225 student charged Dec. 8 with threatening to bomb Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools. Ricco was given a continuance until 1:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at Cook County Criminal Court in Skokie. "We are still gathering information," said Cook County State's Attorney Spokesperson Tandra Simonton. Update, Dec. 9 at 1:50 p.m. Ryan Ricco, who was charged yesterday after police received a report that he threatened to bomb Glenbrook South and Glenbrook North via Faceook, remains in police custody. Bond was set at $250,000 D with electronic monitoring if released.
