The broken water main below Dundee Rd. will be repaired between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The village will close vehicular lanes at the Northwest corner of Dundee Rd. and Pfingsten Rd. on Saturday in preparation for broken water main repair work, scheduled to start Saturday morning, according to the village website. The break occurred beneath the west side crosswalk on Dundee Rd., and water was diverted into the storm sewers with sandbags to prevent flooding, according to the village. The road has also been salted for motorist safety. Public Works officials likely to address the aging line along Waukegan Road.
Recent breaks in a 90-year-old water main, which runs along Waukegan Road, will likely come up during Tuesday night's scheduled Board of Trustees meeting. Shortly after the curb lane of Waukegan Road reopens to traffic, the Board of Trustees will likely consider possible solutions for handling the eight inch cast iron pipe that has ruptured three times since April. Northbound traffic from Shermer to Walters roads reduced to a single lane while repairs are made.

Below is the full text of an update from the Village of Northbrook: Water main repairs on Waukegan Road have been completed. However, the partial lane closure of the northbound curb lane of Waukegan Road north of Linden Road will remain through the night and into tomorrow morning. Traffic is expected to be snarled through the evening rush hour today as Northbrook public works crews repair a water main at the northeast corner of Waukegan Road and Linden Road, village officials said. While repairs are taking place, northbround traffic on Waukegan will be reduced to a single lane between Shermer and Walters. Southbound traffic will not be affected by the lane closure, officials said. All commuters using this road are asked to reduce speeds and use caution; seek alternate routes if possible to avoid delays. Public Works crews are working with IDOT to patch the road after a severe water main break flooded the roadway last night. Two southbound lanes and one northbound lane are open.
Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night, a severe water main break closed down all four lanes of Waukegan Road between Shermer Road and Walters Avenue. As of 10 a.m. Monday, three of the four lanes were open and the village expected the road to be completely clear soon. Last night, police noticed water surging up through the roadway. Its force was so severe that it buckled the pavement, according to Cheryl Fayne-dePersio, communications manager for the village of Northbrook. The water main break on Waukegan road was one of nine that took place throughout the village, according to Paul Risinger, general operations superintendent with the public works department. Besides major construction on Lake Cook Road, commuters Thursday also have to deal with a water main break at Lake Cook and Pfingsten roads. A crew from the Cook County Highway Department accidentally ripped the water main around 8 a.m., according to Deerfield’s Public Works Department. The Highway Department has been at work on Lake Cook Road patching and resurfacing a 1.2-mile stretch between Wilmot and Pfingsten since June. “At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning, the contractor working on Lake Cook Road hit the Village of Deerfield 6-inch water main located on the southwest corner of Lake Cook and Pfingsten Roads,” said Brad Fink, Deerfield’s assistant director of public works. “A large sinkhole formed, causing the Village of …

One west bound lane remained closed for repairs as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Crews are repairing a water main break at 420 Lake Cook Rd. It burst around 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Traffic has been reduced to one lane on Lake Cook Road near the Waukegan Road intersection so crews can work on repairs, which are expected to be complete by Wednesday. According to crews on site, this is Deerfield’s second water main break in the past 24 hours. The first was Tuesday morning on Gordon Terrace, but has since been fixed.
