Northbrook Woman Settles with Deerfield School District

Deerfield's School District 109 agreed to pay Stephanie Horwitz $65,000 after she was fired last year for missing about two years of school.

After missing about two years of school, Northbrook's Stephanie Horwitz will receive $65,000 in a settlement from Deerfield School District 109, who fired her last year, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Patch previously reported that the D109 school board voted to dismiss Horwitz, a tenured teacher, in November of 2012.

Horwitz told the Chicago Tribune she plans to "start a special educating consulting business that focuses on pre-kindergarten through college-age students."

"I have a disability and the School District was not willing to provide reasonable accommodations," Horwitz previously told Patch.
